  1. Here you find Daniel Taupin's  MusicTeX  a TeX-based system to typeset music.

  3. The package consists of three parts.
  4.  
  5. - the TeX-macros, -font descriptions, -fonts for 300dpi printers, font-
  6.   definitions and the documentation as zip-file  musictex.zip or as com-
  7.   pressed tar-file  musictex-nnn.tar.gz  if nnn is the version number.
  8.   
  9.   Older versions are available too as zip-files named  musictex.nnn, as well
  10.   as zip-files containing only the differences between older versions named
  11.   musictex.iii-nnn.zip (for the step from version iii to version nnn).
  12.   Because some people don't bother about bandwidth and simply use "mget *"
  13.   I've moved older versions to the directory older-versions and diff-files
  14.   to the directory diff-files. I hope that it is not neccessary to put zip-
  15.   and tar-files into different directories to make it not so easy to fetch
  16.   more than one needs.

  18.   If you want to use these diff-files you may have to rename them either
  19.   when ftp'ing them or when unzip'ing them. The diff-files do not contain 
  20.   the dvi-file of the documention, because this may be produced by yourself
  21.   from the source musicdoc.tex, which is contained if it has been changed.

  23. - some examples, compositions and arrangements by Daniel Taupin named either
  24.   musicexa.zip  or  musicexa-nnn.tar.gzi
  25.   Version handling and diff-files follow the same rules as for musictex.
  26.  
  27. - fonts, font-metrics, ... for (some) other resolutions than 300 dpi
  28.   in   musicpk.zip  or  musicpk.tar.gz
  29.  
  30. The base material (the zip-files) is copied from Daniel Taupins ftp-server
  31. at rsovax.lps.u-psud.fr. The tar- and diff-files are generated by me.

  33. There is a mailing-list for discussions about MusicTeX (and MuTeX). To

  36. The directory software points at some software on top of MusicTeX like
  37. abc2mtex or midi2tex.
